Easily One of the Best Interviews I’ve Ever Done

May 31, 2012 at 10:21 pm UTC

Last month I spoke with legendary reporter Bob Edwards on his Sirius XM show. A huge honor for me to talk with this extraordinary man.

“You take the harmony not the beliefs.” So incredibly articulate.

Really inspiring and explains so much! I get a similar compulsion to giggle when I listen to parts of Waternight. Another word I know for it is ‘bliss’: a glimpse or welling up of recognition of the river-like presence of joy and beauty at the root of all existence. Like a really sane kind of madness. Reminds me of Sufi musicians and how they can enter the world of the ecstatic and bring it through in their service to the planet – it’s amazing to be in a room with it and catch the same fire. Hoping to be in a room with Waternight played live at some point and don’t mind risking being the madwoman in the back stifling a burst of chuckles – I’ll blame the conposer :) Thanks for making such conversations possible :)

  • Bridgett Beichler

Mozart’s Requiem changed my life in just a single rehearsal as well.

You are right, this interview is one of your best.

  • Mary Craven

Absolutely fascinating. This April my university did a large clinic type weekend called “Words for Music” where we explored the connection between text and music in choral compositions. Fun fact, Tony Silvestri came to talk and work with us at that particular event. Since then, I have become entranced with the connection between the two, and what it does for the compositional process. I want to thank you for sharing this interview because it taught me so much about how your music comes to be.

I just “get” you….that’s all I can say after listening to this interview….I “get” it….I “get” you. Mr. Edwards is such a great interviewer, and with EW as his subject, it doesn’t get much better than that!
