Goodbye, Evangelyna

September 13, 2011 at 11:23 am UTC

Friends: our beautiful friend Evangelyna Etienne has finally passed after her long battle with cancer; she turned 21 just a few days ago. I featured her in my TED talk, and performed with her live in NYC just over a year ago.

She was such a beautiful soul, so warm and giving and full of life, and I will miss her terribly.

I am so saddened to hear this. Although I did not have a chance to meet her, as with anyone who participated in this project, I felt as if I almost knew her, especially since she was a fellow Bostonian. This is such sad news. I know her involvement in this project must have provided her some comfort and joy during her battle.

I am saddened to hear this news. I had the pleasure of singing with Evangelyna @ Carnegie Hall and sharing an impromptu meal & silly conversation in our hotel just before that performance. She was a consummate musician and a beautiful spirit. She will be deeply missed.

How very sad. But how wonderful that she was able to be a part of the VC, and that you have this video as well. What a legacy to leave.

May God bless Evangelyna and keep her happily singing forever with all His best angels…may she pray for all of us still here on Earth, trying to make it a better place with our music!! Love, Marti
