Great Cloudburst Masterclass Videos With Dr. Ronald Staheli

Posted on August 27, 2010 at 10:49 am

One of my all-time favorite conductors, Dr. Ronald Staheli, seen here giving a masterclass on Cloudburst with the Peiyang Chorus. I think this was recored in China, or maybe a festival in Hong Kong? Either way it’s pretty striking, and I LOVE the mix of cultures: American conductor, Mexican poet, Chinese Chorus. Also nice to get a little peek into some of the techniques Dr. Staheli uses to get his legendary ‘BYU’ sound.

I love singing for him in BYU Singers. I'm actually beginning my Masters in Choral Conducting with him at BYU. He's got so much to teach.

As Matt previously stated, it is a pleasure to sing for such an intelligent conductor. He definitely knows what he's doing and he does it well. I wish that all choirs could have him in workshop at least once.

I loved working with Dr. Staheli when I was at BYU. I was a "mini-Staheli" when I graduated. He's pretty much amazing.

Peiyang Choir is the student choir of Tianjin University. Of course, it's a choir in Tianjin, China PR. =)
