Itay Talgam: Lead like the great conductors

November 30, 2009 at 6:01 am UTC

An absolutely incredible Ted talk on conducting and the nature of communication within an ensemble. Fascinating viewing regardless your vocation, but a must-watch for would-be conductors.

  • John Pamintuan

I'd like to share a video of a choir with no conductor beating out the cues, performing Dr. Stroope's Riveder le Stelle.

  • Courtney Lea

"Never look at the trombone, it only encourages them." ROTFLOL!

This was really funny to watch despite the fact that I'm not really considering conducting really in my music future but this was insightful and humorous!

  • Patrick

Watched this several months ago. He leads a mean workshop that's longer for business executives and types like that, teaching about how the orchestra can be a model for effective organization and showing sonically how different leadership styles affect the "sound" and thus the efficiency of the organization!

  • Lee

Thanks for posting this, Eric. Insightful, amusing, and poignant.

  • Scott

That is terrific, Eric. Thank you for sharing.

That was awesome! As a young conductor its nice to get a taste of different styles of conducting, and how all the players, or singers, come together as one.
    Thanks for posting!
