Messiaen

Wow – I didn’t know this piece until very recently: Messiaen’s extraordinary Turangalîla Symphonie. This is just the fifth movement, a bombastic feast of joy and color. And look at the size of that orchestra!

That's so crazy, I was just looking up art songs by Messiaen! Yeah, color up the wazoo.

I see you found my upload of this piece! I have other movements posted from the piece on my YouTube account, also. I hope to upload more from that performance soon, when I have time.

This movement was more or less the first piece of Messiaen's I heard back in high school! It astonishes me that you hadn't heard it till now. One of my favorite pieces – I have to have listened to this movement a couple dozen or so times by now and it never gets old.

This is a fantastic piece by the great Messiaen. My entire freshmen class was required to study Messiaen's Quartet for the end of time as part of our required general education class "Freshman Studies", and after being introduced to him I became more and more interested. A great piece to check out is his choral piece "O sacrum convivium" another one of my favorite choral pieces. =D enjoy!! and thank you for the upload. more people need to hear messiaen.

That was a magnificently eerie piece…almost too eeire for my taste. I just thought the synth on the keyboard was a bit cheesy and over-the-top.

Such a great piece! Little fun fact: Leela from Futurama is actually named after it, her full name being Turanga Leela :-)
