Very Cool Paradise Lost Multitrack

July 10, 2010 at 7:27 am UTC

James Perry sang with me last month as part of the chorus in the Carnegie performance of Paradise Lost, and once he got back home he cut together this killer video. That’s him singing all 8 choral parts (including the high soprano stuff) – each part recorded 4 times for a total of 32 tracks. Very, very cool, James.

The good stuff starts around 1:36.

JAMES, I am soooo proud of you! You see, when you're brave and passionate about expressing your love of someone's music, they appreciate your heart-filled work like you can't even imagine. Because of the amazing singer and person you are this happened. <3

That is sooo amazing!!! I saw the Carnegie performance and for weeks afterwards, this song was the theme that constantly ran through my mind. It just took up residence in my brain and I couldn't stop singing it.

    Now…it's back!

    Awesome job, James!

    Wow…really…wow…!!

James, that was just…astounding! Man, I feel like a loser now. Hahahaha. But seriously, what a range (!), and what artistic feeling and expression you put into this (not only with your singing, but also what you did visually with the pictures). FACTIS AMAZING!

I watched the Carnegie Hall show, and I thought it was beyond epic. But what you did here, James, has taken my already great appreciation of that performance to a whole new level. You are a very talented man, my friend! Keep on doing what you love to do, and never, ever stray from that path.

I can't stop listening to this!!!! It is so good. It is awesome to hear people who have been inspired by great music. As a composer who is interested in the implications of the web and digital recording, seeing people pull this off is an inspiration to me as well.

    FACTISSIMO :)
