Nunc et in hora mortis nostrae III

February 24th, 2012 at 8:30 pm

This is the last concert in a series of three, each performed at the beginning of Lent, to put the performances by the Toonkunstkoor Amsterdam of the Passion of St. Matthew in a new frame. The theme of this intimate and temporary programme is suffering and the relation between life and death. Fixed point is again ‘Via crucis’ by Franz Liszt. For each concert a composition is specially written for the choir by a Dutch, or in The Netherlands living composer. This year this will be the composition ‘Promenade’ by Wouter Snoei. The composer himself will participate with live-electronica. Also the special composition of Nunc II (Pablo Escande: La mort et la beauté) and of Nunc I (Bob Zimmerman: Die Kunst der Fuge) will be performed, as well as Eric Whitacre’s ‘Lux Aurumque’. Light designer Henk van der Geest will emphasis the special character of this concert with light effects and 3D-animations.
