It has been my great honor to work with Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY), a presenting company that specializes in producing live concerts of exceptionally high quality. We have been working together on concerts for several years, including my show Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings and a collaborative concert with my hero and mentor, Morten Lauridsen.
Each concert provides a terrific opportunity for me to work with talented singers in a very intimate space, exploring my music, everything from early pieces to brand new works. (I premiered both the Animal Crackers Vol. II and The City and the Sea at previous DCINY events).
I spend three solid days rehearsing the choir before the performance, molding musicians from all over the world into a finely-tuned ensemble. And because we spend such an intense amount of time together, it’s also a chance for me to socialize with the singers; I get to spend a great deal of time talking (and laughing) with the participants. The ‘hang time’ is part of the week that I cherish the most.
The 2014 season has been confirmed for Sunday, March 30, 2014.
If you or your choir are interested in being a part of the performance, please sign up to the DCINY mailing list to be among the first to receive updates.
