Maggie’s helps anyone affected by cancer

“This October, we will premiere The Sacred Veil in Europe with two concerts at St. John’s Smith Square in London. This piece is an incredibly personal work for me.   I wrote it with my closest friend and long-term collaborator Charles Anthony Silvestri, Tony. Over the course of 50 minutes, we explore the life story of Tony’s wife, Julie, who passed away from ovarian cancer 14 years ago. I am deeply honored and humbled that Tony felt able to work with me on this. I have set his words, some of my own and Julie’s – from her blog – but Sacred Veil never refers to Julie by name.   Essentially this is all of our story – a story of love, life and loss.

We have partnered with the charity Maggie’s for these two London concerts.  Maggie’s offers free practical and emotional support for all people living with cancer, and their loved ones. The work they do is truly incredible. They have 23 beautifully designed centers across the UK & abroad and are opening 2 more this year. They also have an online community if you aren’t able to make it to a center.   They are continuously expanding to share their experience and knowledge with cancer support centers and groups around the world.    We’ll be hosting a bucket collection after each concert in October and there will be representatives from Maggie’s so you can find out more about what phenomenal work they’re doing.”
