Union Chapel, 5 March 2015
We welcomed Jeff Beal to Union Chapel to perform his first-ever choral piece, ‘The Salvage Men’, written especially for the Eric Whitacre Singers and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Best-known for his compositions for film & media which have earned him thirteen prime time Emmy nominations, including his score and theme for House of Cards, Mr. Beal also has three statues.
Nicki Wells is an extraordinary young artist who has been singing and touring the world with Nitin Sawhney for the past 5 years. Having enthralled audiences with her incredible versatility from the Royal Albert Hall to Sydney Opera House she is now about to release her much anticipated album.
Alongside the concert, the Centre for Performance, Royal College of Music and Imperial College led a voluntary research study investigating the effects of singing on the health and wellbeing of singers and audience members. The research team analysed psychological data, stress hormones in saliva samples, and electrocardiogram data.
