Let’s Do This Thing
Posted on November 12, 2010 at 12:54 pm
So… thus far we’ve had about 160 videos uploaded for the Virtual Choir, but ELEVEN THOUSAND people have downloaded the sheet music. That means there are an awful lot of people out there that want to make a video, but haven’t.
Have I mentioned how unbelievably cool this thing is going to be? How global? I’ve been looking at some of the concept art for the finished video and it is PURE AWESOME. Please, please, please don’t let this one go by. Your grandchildren will never forgive you.

I really want to, but I have som problems with switching the output source at the same time as a video/song/whatever is running at the same time. Have to start everything all over before it changes…

totally agree, too many ppl are procrastinating, specially us english.
Don't be shy please, I am but I did it, even though I sound like a breathy treble, not the best that I could do but still proud,
PLEASE JUST DO IT!
Cheers

Don't worry, I'm just waiting for my classes to finish for the semester, and then I can spend an entire GLORIOUS day practicing and recording! Can't wait!

For some reason my Yahoo mail has consistently blocked the registration confirmation emails. Still fighting with it – I'd like to be subscribed on my primary instead of using a different mail account.
Myself and several choral friends WILL be working on this starting this week! :-)
Thankyou so much for your inspirational music… I always sing from my heart – especially your compositions.

Just found out about it…. I'm learning the music and hope to be ready within the next few weeks.
I'm also spreading the word with fellow choristers in my area (Canada).

If you're reading this Eric…. I love your music! Can't believe that you didn't find classical music until 18 – thank goodness you eventually did. Were you not exposed to classical music as a child or did you just not like it?

Hey there!
I uploaded my video several weeks ago, but still have not heard any news?
Is this to be expected? Or is there something I didn't do correctly with my tagging?
Thanks.

I'll be recording mine today to represent all us "seniors" who are lifelong choral singers. I'm 62 and I want the older generation to be present and accounted for! So if you older folks have the music my message to you is: Just Do It.

I'm trying to download the music, but every time I try I get "SQL Server does not exist or access denied." Any help?

Well, 900 initially sounds like a good goal, but IMHO 900 people choir wouldn't sound that good after all.
Even if we all do our best to sync as accurately as possible, the pronunciation only gets fuzzier after 150+ voices and cannot be helped, and there's not a way to tell between 500 and 900 people. A hundred less or more, numbers just fail to matter at these orders of magnitude.
I wonder if it is possible to have, in the end, more or less permanent community of some 150 people recording next pieces to follow, constantly refining the quality, with other people joining and quitting, but with the foundation being more or less constant.
This could be a start of a totally new way of making choral music — call it a 'wikichoir' or whatever. A 21st century way to perform choral music which could become popular and even revolutionary if advertised well… And you would be the first to do it on a scale that large, no matter if the world record for quantity is set or not.
So, whatever the outcome, it is going to be good. It must be.
