One Month Left!
Posted on December 1, 2010 at 11:15 am
OK gang, we are now one month from the deadline for submissions. We are at nearly 300 videos, a phenomenal number and nearly twice as many as the Lux Virtual Choir video. But I know there are so many of you out there that want to be a part of this, and now is your time. LET’S DO THIS THING, FRIENDS! TIME TO MAKE HISTORY!

Dear Mr Eric Whitacre,
Firstly I think you are amazing and by far my favourite composer – literally, i'm obsessed!! I have been trying really hard to take part in your virtual choir for sleep, but every time I try and upload my video it is out of sync, even though it is fine on my laptop. I was wondering if this would mean I couldn't take part?
Please keep writing!!

Dear Ellie and all other Virtual Choir participants:
Last night, I uploaded my video clip. (12/13/2010)
I'm having the same problem that you ( Ellie ) describe.
My "avi" file uploads OK. I can edit it also.
But when I start the video clip on YouTube, the video plays faster than the audio. I tried uploading again, same problem.
However, when playingthe same file on my laptop, using "Windows Media Player," there is no mismatch. The video and audio are fine, locally. Running on Youtube, though causes the video to race ahead (visibly fast, like it a being fast-forwarded.
Is there anyone else that has this problem? And is there a solution for fixing this on YouTube? I will cut and paste this text on a note to the YouTube Technical Help e-mail I'm sending.

I would just like to say that the Virtual Choir is such an amazing idea. Seriously I love that technology has let this become possible and I'm glad you thought of this.

Inspiring – a wonderful bridge between the arts and technology. See my article posted today "Holiday Cheer: Google Earth and Whitacre's Virtual Choir" on ScienceBlogs.com
It is a wonderful piece of work, meditative and beautiful.

Ok, I know this may sound odd but I have never made a video of myself doing anything, let alone sing, on youtube or anywhere online. Can someone help me?

Wait they're doing this again? Oh my gosh I'm going to cry. I wanted to do this so badly. And it's very hard to see everyone participate while I still don't have a Web cam. Where have I been all this time? I blame myself.

I know I've waited til almost the last minute but I've recorded my track satisfactorily on my MacBook using the photo booth app. But when I play it back, the audio is a full second or more ahead of the video!
Does anyone know how I can sync this before I upload it? I sure would like to be part of the virtual choir.
