Save the Date (4.16.2009): The National Youth Choir of Great Britain, in London's Historic Southwark Cathedral
Thursday, April 16th I’ll return to London to conduct the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. (NYCGB). This is the same group that I conducted in the premiere of The Stolen Child with the King’s Singers last spring; a truly phenomenal choir, led by their intrepid founder, gentleman and scholar Mike Brewer (OBE).
On the program, I’ll conduct:
- Lux Aurumque
- Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine
- Water Night
- The Stolen Child
- A Boy and a Girl
- Sleep, My Child
- Animal Crackers Vol. I
- Animal Crackers Vol. II
- Cloudburst
- Sleep
The concert will take place in Southwark Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in London. Here’s a picture:
And here’s the inner hall:
I can’t even imagine what Lux will sound like with this choir in this hall. And Water Night. And Cloudburst. *Head explodes*
And here’s a video of me conducting the NYCGB in last year’s premiere of The Stolen Child. In typical British fashion, the singers began learning this music three days before the concert.
