The Sleep Experiment: COMPLETE!

Here it is… we did it!

My deepest thanks to all of you who participated in what I think is a truly historic moment. And this is just the beginning!

If you’re in the video, please post here and let me know which city/state/country you’re in; I’d love to find out where all of you are.

And as always, my greatest thanks to the incredible Scottie Haines, who compiled and edited all of the videos. Mission accomplished, Scottie.

    I saw this and I couldn't stop shaking or crying! I stayed up til 3 in the morning waiting for this to premiere but felt sick from staying up too long lol. This was AMAZING!!!! I am TRUELY honored to be apart of this.

    I'm Wei, from Sydney Australia. I usually sing Sop I but did Sop II for this when I saw there was only one 1 other Sop II track. I'm also not a frequent You-Tuber and posting videos of myself really isn't my thing, but I LOVE the piece and the concept so much I had to do it.     Great idea, thanks so much for the opportunity! It turned out so well! I'm Maureen, I sang Alto 1, and I'm from Minneapolis, MN but now I go to school in Boulder, CO. I was lucky enough to be home for the Eric Whitacre Extravaganza in Orchestra Hall this past spring (my sister was in the high school choir) and I have to say… one of the most incredible, moving things I've ever seen.     Tenor 1 from Farnborough, UK! (I'm the bald one with a red and white t-shirt on !!) Eric, Sleep was the reason that I started having singing lessons (although my YouTube video doesn't show it!) I now sing in a chamber choir and have found the album Cloudburst a great inspiration. It motivates me to be the best I can… I am looking forward to doing Water Night.     But this video was so beautiful in so many ways – you all have such amazing voices and depth and of course the exquisite combination of Mr. Silvestri's poetry and your music, Mr. Whitacre, that just makes it so…humanistically perfect.     Wow, at first I was honestly wondering what things like blend and vowel formation would be like doing this all virtually.

    But listening to it, I have to admit it was some of the best blending I have ever heard, the vocal techinique and the tone quality of this group is amazing.

    Eric, you are beginning at new style of music.

    I'm so pumped to do Lux, and i have my copy ready.

    The youth choir I'm conducting is singing sleep in the next season, and I will definitely have them listen to this!
