Recording Tonight With the BYU Singers
Some of you may know their last album of my music, The Complete A Cappella Works; 1991-2001. It remains one of my favorite recordings of my choral music, and the recording sessions rank right up there as some of the most soul-shattering experiences of my musical life.
I’m here in Provo, Utah tonight for the first night of another big recording session with the legendary BYU Singers, this time for a new album of the rest of my choral music. As I type this we’re in the middle of the second take of A Boy and a Girl. Words cannot describe the way they sound…
If all goes as planned, this will be the rep list for the new CD:
- A Boy and a Girl
- This Marriage
- Her Sacred Spirit Soars (with 140 singers!)
- Five Hebrew Love Songs (with string quartet)
- She Weeps Over Rahoon
- Little Birds
- Little Tree
- Animal Crackers
- The Seal Lullaby (a new SATB/piano work that I’m writing for the Los Angeles-based Towne Singers)
Should hit iTunes early summer. Woo Hoo!
