Save the Date: Killer Concert in Minneapolis

February 5, 2009 at 5:36 pm UTC

No, not “The Killers”, although that’s a concert I’d probably go to as well…

If any of you happen to find yourselves near Minneapolis March 22nd, may I humbly suggest you check out the “Eric Whitacre Extravaganza”? (Yeah, I know, I didn’t come up with the name).

I’ll be conducting the entire concert… here’s the rep:
Water Night
The Seal Lullaby
A Boy and a Girl
With a Lily in Your Hand
When David Heard
Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine
Lux Aurumque
The Five Hebrew Love Songs
Animal Crackers Vol. I
Cloudburst
Sleep
…and “Nox”, a world premiere based on themes from my musical ‘Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings.’

My dear friend Charles Anthony Silvestri will also be there, giving workshops and meeting fans. (He wrote the poetry for Lux, Sleep, Leonardo, and Nox).

The three incredible choirs:
St. Olaf University
VocalEssence
A state-wide honor choir made up of 170 singers.

For the final two pieces, Cloudburst and Sleep, all 300+ singers will be on stage at one time. OH YEAH, BABY!

Here’s more info about the whole thing. Hope to see you there!
