The Eric Whitacre Singers Recording “Alleluia”

October 13, 2011 at 10:08 pm UTC

Almost finished recording the second Decca disc, which will be half choral, half orchestral. Here’s an iPhone video of The Eric Whitacre Singers performing the first few minutes of my new Alleluia. Woo hoo!

    Hey Eric,

Wow! How about those sopranos!!?? Or Those basses!!?? WOW!!!

This is inspiring stuff. I can’t wait to buy this album. My hope is that you might eventually write for double choir (which would end up as your virtual choir) with the EW Singers as Choir 1 and The whole frickin world as the Choir 2!

Do you have any counter tenors in this group?

  • Michelle k

The soprano soloist has an amazing voice. The quality is really good for an iPhone! Thank you for sharing Eric. :-)

    WOW.
I heard the another choir sing this back when it was first released, and I thought it was okay.
Then I heard THIS choir sing it.
It has a certain warmth to it…
    It feels like October!! :D

  • Zach Ritter

Breathtakingly beautiful. I love how the location contributes even more to the magic of it all.

  • David

    Great piece of music, Eric.
Is it just me or do I hear hints of the theme to American Beauty in there? :)

  • Eric

This is really amazing! And the soprano – solo!!!
When this cd is on the market, i’m going to buy this at the first moment, when it arrives from the US, i can put it in my cd-player and never take it out!
BTW, the first one is now in the player… and also on my MP so I can listen to it, every time on the train..
And … will this have also an personal touch, a signed frontpage?

I’m an aspiring composer, and I never fail to be inspired by your music. When I heard this, the first thought in my head was “I want my dreams to sound like this.” There aren’t words that can describe beauty like this. Thank you.

I cannot believe we have to wait until next year for the CD! :O Sounds incredible, such an inspiring few minutes of music, I can’t wait to hear the rest!
